Washed with more than water.

As water washes away the dirt & filthiness that clings to our bodies, so the blood of Jesus makes the believer clean. What is unholy becomes holy, what is unclean, becomes clean.

The desire to be washed & forgiven is expressed in the words of Psalm 51, written by David after being caught out by the prophet Nathan speaking on behalf of the God who hates sin & hypocrisy.(2 Sam 12) David fell into temptation, then murder & adultery followed.

A portion of Psalm 51…
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

In Jesus we see a claim of authority to forgive sins. The law of God reveals the measure of attainment required, our efforts fall short no matter how close we think we come, but in Christ mercy is bestowed & revival takes place. What was once an inward desert of disobedience, pain & grief becomes deep pools of renewal, laughter & joy…

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Rom 15:13

Expresso or night, light or dark

I couldn’t count the number of songs & pieces of music that are hidden away in the recesses of my mind, much like the delighted thoughts of David regarding his relationship with God (Ps 139:17-18) a vast sum or amount…

The skilful & creative processes that combine rhythm, sound, instruments & voices speaks to my inner being…powerfully so at times. Music is a wonderful thing & personally some of it more appealing & agreeable on the scale of things. The animal kingdom, with its various kinds, also shares in the expression of rhythm, dance & song.

Regarding many’s often a challenge to catch all the music & lyrics. Some pick it up, all in an instant; others gain it by listening over & over, similar to some musicians & music. Many years later stories behind the song & the meaning of the lyrics grasp people’s attention.

Along with the promise & prophecy of heaven, which is yet to come, The Old Testament & New Testament church has been blessed with God’s Spirit & instruction. God, who delighted in what He had made & the ultimate giver of music, by Grace (Eph 4:7-8) allows us to join in with our abilities, wether its music, song or both…The goodness of Eden’s garden is being prepared & it’s something worth singing about...

Praise the Lord…

Address to the nations

Australia & its people are unique; especially the Aboriginals regarding their culture & appearance, but then again aren’t we all when living in a contrast. Outwardly we reflect our human roots, from our current leaves & branches back down the trunk to its roots…distinguishing features that define our being to a point.

The natural earth has its roots in a super natural Creator says the book of Genesis, from the garden comes the inhabitants of the earth, God is the garden maker. It may appear neglected as the season of sin takes its toll, yet God has been doing some grafting (Isaiah 53) the cultivator of lives & souls is working one field while preparing others…

Being grafted into Jesus means parts of our old identity will change. God with great interest & care trims, feeds & waters with an eternal perspective…I may keep parts of my nationality, culture & genetic makeup no matter who I am, but I am being transformed into something new…

The Bibles heritage goes far beyond any one nation…it's reach is wide, wide as the ocean, high as the Heaven above & deep, deep as the deepest sea.

Are we there yet ?

Life is a highway…life is a road, life is a path, and life is a journey.
If that is the case then there are many decisions & choices to be made. Is this all there is…the here & now…or is there an inter change when our physical bodies are no more & the soul becomes the consequence or coincidence of record…things said, done & thought throughout our life time. Is there a timetable that says this is it, no longer do you have the company of others, family & friends, liked, loved or otherwise. All alone your soul reaps what your humanity sowed, where the two cannot be divorced.
The beginnings of such a journey has already begun for travellers in time & space, things done in this life really do matter & they point to  destinations that are not of this world, says the Bible. On the highway of life there are only two directions. One destination is hellish, the other heavenly, eternally so.

The sin cursed earth is not abandoned like some vandalised car on the side of the road, left to rust & deteriorate in the galaxy (Matt 4. 12-17) The message of Jesus gives restoration, direction & everlasting hope; there is no road to nowhere. A depth of love & sacrifice that walked the road to Calvary cuts through the ages of time speaking today as it did yesterday & will as long as God patiently works.
Take heed & safe travels

Light of life

Some technologies are becoming obsolete as progression & discovery combine to bring about change. Lighthouses no longer light up the night sky along coastlines yet dangers still exist & direction is still sought. Relying on modern technology can have its down side, recently Apple maps went back to Google maps as people were being directed the wrong way, ending up in a place that they never imagined they could.

It’s pretty obvious that some faith is different to others. The Bible says faith is needed to know God in a personal way. It’s not just about knowing a whole lot of things about God; it is being personally involved with Him, trusting in His wonderful promises & following His lead. God offers the opportunity to be saved from a foretold destruction…the solution is Jesus, He is the connection, and His life giving Spirit enters the heart & mind creating change & renewal.

For those that walk with God, a lifetime of shaping takes hold, God shapes our years through calling us to obedience, there is more to life than the here & now, God knows it& has shared this S.O.S message, firstly through the Patriarchs, Prophets& Old Testament Israel then the New Testament church through Christianity. Gods Spirit is global & universal, not limited like our understanding of natural laws that are subject to change.

The Bible asks the question of our heart…What are you reflecting in your life, what is it's source. Is it something that will be obsolete down the track or is it something everlasting, drawing its glow from the light of life? It’s good to take check of your life, to know your position & stay clear of danger. In God there is a safe place, a perfect place with no glitch or disaster. What God gives is best as He lovingly instructs with careful attention & a Kingly rule.

“For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life. Psalm 56 :13”

A ducks eye view

Posted by Picasa

A living jewel silently darts along the river, iridescent splendour on a small scale but no less impressive.  Stopping on branches as it seeks food or returns to its nest,  the azure kingfisher is one of my favourite things...

As much as I grow older, there still remains a child like wonder regarding many things. The X factor of creation is sublime, the way it all comes together & leaves me awestruck in amazement.
    All things bright & beautiful
   all creatures great & small
    All things wise & wonderful
the Lord God made them all

"the resurrection of the body & the life everlasting."

Nietzsche is a bit of a legend for Atheists, he is famous for the quote “God is dead” among other things regarding things intellectual. Recently Damon Young shared his imaginary experience of conversing with famous philosophers now dead & buried.

I recall doing something similar after losing my dearly loved pets & grandparents. Rehearsing conversations also included explanations to my parents about how or why I did something wrong. There is a lot to be said about sharing our thoughts with others & thinking before we speak. People from the past have contributed to the shaping of society, inventions built on inventions, cultures on cultures, technology on technology... Philosophy on philosophy

The psalmist(Psalm 42) does something similar as he pours his heart out to the living God. Knowing Christ gives the believer an open door that none can shut. Our seemingly silent thoughts & outward expressions make their way to the father heart of God. Like words with wings they are lifted up to the realm of heaven…The psalmists personal relationship reasons with God on the basis of his character revealed in Scripture. God can & does deliver, unlike the philosophies that fail to expect the unexpected.

Do you see what I see

Interestingly enough the Army DUKW although amphibious had nothing to do with ducks; it had to do with a model naming code matched to the technology & design within the machine. A thing of the past it would seem as investment in drone warfare escalates.

So another year has come & gone, many have had some R & R (rest & recuperation) myself included brief as it seemed but much to be thankful for. The fireworks that filled the sky with light & sound have given way to the dark twinkling canopy above in its majestic silence. Only occasionally will the RAAF rumble the surrounding altitude. Throughout the night sounds of frogs & and passing cars fuse into the quiet.

The task ahead is a battle on many fronts…spiritually, financial, relationships, energy, work, commitments & interests. As I begin to scan ahead making plans for this & that I take encouragement from the words of Isaiah 43 v 1-3. Where ever I go, God goes. Through the water, through the fire, The Living One is there. It’s not a promise of immediate or glorious victory, its hard yards at times as God’s strategy reminds me of obedience & trust. His rations are to be my lot & gradually the realisation grows.

It’s not a case of imaginary, wishful, or positive thinking, far from it. Trusting in the promises of God is as much about work as it is about rest. He has entered this world & enters hearts defeating the power of sin & death, our doubts & misery no longer have lasting rule. In Christ they are defeated; of this the Bible says we can be sure. God is as much a part of the landscape as all other living things, you may not see Him, but He is there.
