Compliance with the Scriptures

In the slipstream of our lives or the taxiing slower pace there is one who walks beside. When our earthly loves & wants disappoint or seem distant there is one who walks besides. His presence is not always noticed or appreciated, even in our stillness we can often fail to connect with the person of truth, yet he remains true for His love is faithful & His heart is pure.

Our journey is to a place of heavenly order & we are called to prepare. Amidst the mess & mayhem, the struggles with sin & the spiritual, the joy of our salvation is there. We are destined for holiness in each compartment of our lives & to this purpose God is faithful & He will bring it to pass.

The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

A time for everything

Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years, one season following another
Laiden with happiness and tears.

Fiddler on the roof

Remember Him-
before the silver cord is severed, & the golden bowl is broken,
 before the pitcher is shattered at the spring & the wheel broken at the well
& the dust returns to the ground it came from & the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12: 6 & 7

Apologies for my (upon reflection) obscure post. My intended focus was to be the often universal theme of bringing up children & how quickly it happens. All of a sudden you are older like your parents & your children are young just like you used to be…life is but a breath.

The verses from Ecclesiastes 12 hold more weight in regards to approaching the end of our earthly existence & the life we have lived & standing in the presence of Almighty God. 01 08 13

learning curves

Teach me your way O LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness,

Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

Psalm 86:11

Perspective

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,
 “I find no pleasure in them”—
before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop,
 when the grinders cease because they are few,
and those looking through the windows grow dim;
when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint;
when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets.
Ecclesiastes 12:1- 5

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Hebrews 9:27

in just the right place @ just the right time

It was with wilful & purposeful steps that Jesus trod the dusty roads of an empire. His song of love unknown was yet to wash & seep through to the lost hearts wandering amidst the latest & greatest empire of the time.

The man of no apparent attraction had a date with destiny. By the hands of men the King of compassion would not falter for there was too much at stake. Innocent like a lamb he experienced the taunts & terror of wickedness.

In the crushing of Jesus body flows forth the new wine of the Spirit. What was meant to be dead & buried rises up to be seen & touched for a time. Words flow & salvation spreads, a set price has been payed, the captured set free. It is not for fear but for freedom that we have our being.

Cover me with courage

This constant flame has quietly glowed throughout the years of my life. Its thin pages of small & large print quietly speak to the inner workings of my being. From cultures of another time & place its unchanging wisdom continues to illuminate & guide.

Like stars in the sky it’s carefully given words shine, not always apparent at first as at dusk. Its manifold wisdom blossoms across the eventide, high up in the volume of the display.

Night moves in the Netherlands

Art...20% off

info & image sourced from wikipedia

Being born 407 years ago would give you a bit of credibility as far as being old, & so it is with Rembrandt if he were alive today. An old master from the Dutch Golden Age, one of if not the best painters of his time.

Mostly portrait paintings & the Bible was his thing. The Night Watch was meant to be a portrait in the traditional sense but Rembrandt opted for an action scene with this commissioned work. Another feature of interest is upon its transfer to another building it was reduced in size (approx. 20%) to fit its new site. For many years a dark layer of varnish hid its depth of light & colour. The Night Watch composition captures activity & vigilance with texture & skill.

Rembrandts personal life experienced dark tones of sadness, this is said to have influenced his changing style over time but it could also have been age & experience as a painter. Eventually he became less & other painters became more as tastes in society experienced variation.

Duck (not Bear) Grylls

It’s not hard to be captivated by various creatures within the animal world. There are so many combinations of wonder that can leave us spellbound in wonder. So much so that nations & peoples perceive an immense connection regarding friendships, the spiritual, the scientific & the zodiac.

In the early Old Testament church a golden calf took the place of God when Aaron bowed to the pressure of the people who had lived in Egypt many hundreds of years (Exodus 32). Scripture is clear though, there is one Creator in whose image men & women were created. Humanity is not meant to worship the created, whether it’s the elements or the animals. Our connection in the first place should be God from whom all blessings flow.

As humanity seems more & more impressed with what humans can achieve it’s not that hard to believe we are capable of so much… who needs God after all thought the Israelites once they were out of their quickly forgotten oppression. Is this not true regarding our confidence at times... I know it was with me regarding my parents…”what would they know”. In our stubbornness & rebellion we can end up in the darkest & loneliest of places no matter our age where we can discover animals are worshiped or treated better than royalty while parts of humanity starves or lives on a pittance.

He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.  “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! Luke15:16&17

In Christ alone do we get to understand our relationship with the heavenly & the earthly, the spiritual & the unspiritual. Some things may appear relative as people apply their ignorance & understanding but the truth never equates to a lie.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6.

Make time to take time & spend it wisely

I have been a Christian for approx. 25 years now. I got into blogging via comments on a news network, after a while it became apparent that the moderation was bias driven. I was encouraged by a fellow Christian blogger to take it a bit further. I try to be consistent, providing Christian content & visuals/illustration. I am not so into the political scene, more just the daily living.

All those years ago at church I would pick up a bi-monthly pocket sized devotional which was great for work with my early starts as a postman. Throughout the day when the opportunity would come up I would find a quiet spot have a break & read. In doing this my body got a breather as my thoughts & heart were drawn nearer to God & how he has worked over the centuries.

The last couple of days I have drawn a blank. I started two pieces but they are on pause. I started to become concerned regarding my consistent effort. Today (which was the name of the booklets back then) I received my regular devotional email. It is provided via the link below.

There are many things we need to know regarding God, this is definitely one of them.

What do we want...when do we want it...

Nothing like a bit of government or order to enable individual expression, it’s been going on almost as long as when God spoke & it was so…Not that long ago in a galaxy in which we belong but do not have ownership rights to, not that you could tell when considering the way it is treated by many.

The earth, like people in many respects has a fragile nature. Although we are the same we change daily if not hourly according to much of our surrounds. Protesting & agreement occupy our thoughts & actions, for some at a hectic pace in the land of twitting & twitters.

Building towards a better tomorrow means many things to many people…In all this God remains the same. In this Jesus demonstrates not autonomy (self-government) but partnership with none other than God the Father, maker & ruler of all when He taught His disciples the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). The Heidelberg Catechism elaborates on this passage of New testament Scripture with Biblical depth & understanding. It can be found in part 111 under GRATITUDE.

Heavenly & Earthly Dwellings

Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked? When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, you cannot discover anything about your future. Ecclesiastes 7: 13 & 14

 God is in the house & it’s not always a party or pretty. God is in the garden with the thorns, roses & weeds. God is in my heart producing a crop of good things. Glory to the God who made all things good, Glory to the God who stoops down to lift me up, Glory to the God who saves the derelict…Praise the Lord.

He came from heavens house
Walked in the light & felt the pain
Scored some planks, nails & shame
Had no need of scorn while His body was torn
All this that I might be reborn

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6

2 out of 3 or 3 out of 3

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. James 1:19

 Having quick ears doesn’t mean they have to be the fastest, they are placed symmetrically on the side of my head for my benefit & others. On Gods podium, one who listens first wins the day over the sharp shooting self-interested mouth & the anger oriented spirit.

As social & spiritual beings seeking to bear fruit that will last we have been given wisdom from above. It may intersect at times with other worldviews & data yet only in part. Salvation that is full & free stands supreme in the heart of faith.
