photosynthesis

I have been at a loss to know whether to pen something lately.I started doodling last night & came up with this. As an added interest I have inserted this (scientific) link to photosynthesis. Not so simple things that we can daily take for granted, as surely as I live & breathe.

Post after Post

Yesterday morning was particularly beautiful & fresh, we are in the middle of winter now & I had the morning run to soccer for a drop off only so I got to take the scenic way home with some extra time before I did jobs around the home. The rural landscape is often a mix of modern machinery & older farming practice in the hills around Gresford & Dungog.

Almost heaven not, but a scenic post fall, post flood fence posted landscape...

The school of life & death

Scriptural truth is not always apparent, at times like Dr Who we need to be Lords of time in order to grasp what is going on. Scripture combined with understanding enables us to piece it together, but only in part lest faith be faith no more & another type of incomplete knowledge becomes our god & object of worship.

Many assume that Satan is a human invention, a trouble maker or gremlin like character invented to help us cope with the complexity & vastness of life on earth as we allegedly branched off genetically from a family of apes somewhere along the line. Small brained & overcome we switched to imagination mode to get by lest our fears of the unknown envelope us… Sort of like academics that don’t live in the real world & need to invent all kinds of stories to satisfy their intellect…that kind of thing…:)

Anyway, in Gen 3 we get a picture of a talking snake, pretty bizarre when you think about it unless you’re a jungle book fan. But ancient Hebrew literature has a depth of meaning that is totally lost to modern language & media. Genesis is no fable.

4 Better or Worse

I have been sick with the flu recently, as much as I would have liked to be doing things I really needed to rest & even then, this time round it has been difficult to get back to good health. Suffering in sickness came about because of ‘the fall’ says Scripture. Gen 3.

So often an argument against Christianity is that God allows suffering yet who can deny all the good & pleasurable experiences in life also…Does God then get the praise for that? & suffering came about because humanity disobeyed, even after being forewarned. Suffering can & does give us a reality check regarding this temporal life & eternity. Suffering can also be a time of compassion, care & healing as much as agony, pain & death.

When we look at the life of Christ we cannot say God is indifferent to suffering, either here & now or when it comes to eternity. Even in the Old Testament various laws were in place for the benefit & safety of the community with numerous health regulations including a national day of rest each week.

In sickness & in health God is faithful to His children no matter their age.

A more in depth look at the challenge of suffering regarding the justice of God.

Naturally ballistic

I got pretty close to a peregrine falcon today which I enjoyed. These birds are streamline & can flap their wings very fast but they also get high up & then dive down on their prey. As far as birds go these creatures are top gun & if you’re a duck & they are around you’re in the danger zone.

In Australia the Ford Motor Company produced a falcon motor car in the 1970’s that was very fast. The XY GT HO falcon but on the front fender they went with a kangaroo logo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_XY_Falcon_GT

Both fast & both ready to pounce

Order in apparent chaos

The truth is people say a lot & claim a lot of things that are not true, pure deceitful emptiness. Society is filled with hearsay & courts of law daily deal with he said, she said, they said. The church today as it was in the past can be places of controversy & contention. At times it may be our own doing at others Satan purposefully seeks to undermine truth & confuse the issues.1 Peter 5:8.

Nevertheless God’s authenticated plan of salvation & healing remains constant & unshakable. 2 Tim 2:19. Paying the price & taking our place the misery of sin no longer has an eternal hold, glory be to Jesus our pioneer & perfector. God's promises are like an earthly edict, only far greater & layered throughout history in things seen & unseen. Isa 55:6-13.

Renovation & the house of God.

Nature then was not as it appears today for three main reasons. After all things being made good humanity fell into sin by its own doing, even after being warned of the dire consequences that brought about death, decay & alienation from our Maker. Expelled, we now make our own way in this limited & doomed world, a mixture of belief & unbelief in varying proportion, interpretation & distortion.

The account of the mighty flood which preaches destruction & salvation, the mighty flood of catastrophic proportion reshapes the word that was. Not long after that the quest for greatness continues & God, by supernatural means effects humanities ability to communicate by one language & humans disperse across the globe as we breakdown genetically also, fragmenting into nations & regions, drawing from nature, intelligence & imagination.

In this God preserves his plan of Salvation through humanity, as it was with Noah so it is with Abraham & Sarah who are now called to follow God & live in communion with Him. From Abraham & Sarah a child will come along with blessing from God, a people that will live by faith & not by nature alone.

Gen 1:1-12:20. Heb 11:1-40.

In the sounds & in the silence

“Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose” says Richard Dawkins in the blind watch maker. Then he goes all out to argue against design & purpose.

Lawrence Krauss argues that the universe appears to be without purpose yet the earth in relation to the sun is just right for habitation. Krauss thinks that God (if there was a God/god etc.) may be trying to trick us. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs_pgaSrxP8) @ the 8:50 mark.

I would say it is Gods way of saying God is God by demonstration & infinite wisdom. If the earth were not to exist the universe would be totally different & not the same at all. So far to date the earth is unique to all manner of life & humans are unique & far more intelligent than other animals that also share intelligence, design & genetic information. Humans though have a real problem when it comes to doing what is right.

All of the above scenarios fit the Bible perfectly yet people continue to mock the book of books. Far from making it hard, God makes it very clear that He is around, no matter the age. In reality it is humans who want to complicate the issues & demand in their Hearts that God should do it their way.

But then God wouldn’t be God, we would & in many respects that is what we have become as humanity. Yet at the same time as godless as can be.

Masters

Andy Warhol would be considered a Modern Master when it comes to Art. If you haven’t noticed Minions & animation are in as far as popular or pop culture goes at the moment & they are getting more than fifteen minutes of fame. Unmistakable & easily recognisable, as many day to day things are, yet given so much status.

What is usually considered mundane becomes magnificent. As it was with the golden calf so it is with life. God teaches us that to idolise or worship the made instead of the maker is a form of idoatry(which is different to art appreciation).

95. Q. What is idolatry?
A. Idolatry is having or inventing something in which to put our trust instead of, or in addition to, the only true God who has revealed Himself in His Word.
I Chron:16:26. Gal:4:8- 9.Eph:5.5. Phil: 3:19.

Heidelberg Confession

This catechism was written by Zacharias Ursinus (1534-1583) and Caspar Olevianus (1536-1584) in Heidelberg, Germany and published in 1563 in German. It was endorsed by the Synod of Dort and embraced by Reformed Churches in many different countries. It is the custom of many churches that use it to explain it from the pulpit every Sunday afternoon, so it is divided into fifty-two sections.

The whole truth & nothing but the truth, the way & the life

Gal 4:16 Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

The Christians in Galatia had come to believe in the saving Grace of Jesus. Yet within a short period of time they had reconfigured the equation & were heading backwards into a man centred way of drawing near to God which was in reality drawing them away from God in terms of salvation & faith. Peer pressure & consensus are not necessarily truth...

Time & again we may need to be corrected for our own foolishness, for all of the wonder & amazement in receiving the free gift of salvation in Christ alone we still really are prone to wander. This is not just for individuals either, ministers & churches can & do wander away from the father heart of God. God however does not treat us as our sins deserve. Psalm 103:1-19.Undeserving as we are, God continues to be God, merciful, faithful & confronting with the truth. We see this in the Old Testament & the New. Time & again God freely pardons & protects.

I believe in God the teacher Almighty.

The Kingdom of God is a very educational experience engaging the heart, the mind & the will.God not only draws us in & wipes our slate clean but He teaches us to walk in his ways. He is a teacher for all our days...Christianity is not one of many ways in which we may draw near to God, it is the only way. John 14:5-10. John 6:25-48.

Teach me Thy(Your) way of truth O Lord

Coastal at Newcastle, New south Wales.

We live near a fresh water river in a rural area but as a child I grew up in the suburbs of a large city. In the summer, on a Saturday, in the afternoon after work mum & dad would take us to the beach to enjoy the ocean. It was a good spot as it had a small & large beach along with ocean baths & a circular shallow pool. The surrounding rock shelves had plenty of rock pools with star fish, shellfish & crabs etc.

My wife & I were driving by the other week when we spotted a group of dolphins cruising along so we quickly got a park & enjoyed the moment. I had my camera so I got a few shots.

Northern side of the general area taken at another time.

Dolphins @ dusk

Some were spotted & one fin is missing it's tip

I think its the pump room

Southern side with circular pool(empty)

FIFAWWCC2015TM

I have been watching some of the
FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Trade Mark
(FIFsome call it soccerAWWCC2015TM for short) lately.

One of our daughters plays in a mixed comp at the moment & really enjoys it as a team sport. Some of the young men can be extremely competitive & nasty, some of the young women too. For some respect & fair play can be just an abstract idea or something only reserved for the self.

Will keep watching to see how the Tournament progresses.

Getting the pixture

Do you get the picture…if you’re not connected your supposedly a dinosaur, left behind & doomed to death or something like that. But that’s not the only ‘error’ in this Hi- tech, high expense, quickly obsolete driven world. Believe it or not ducks were around when dinosaurs inhabited the earth along with parrots, penguins, owls, sandpipers, albatross, flamingos & loons.

While many devoutly hold to “the dinosaurs walked the earth 65 million years ago yada yada”. There is real science that challenges the long age of the earth & the so called time periods.

Train I ride

Context is everything really, without it we lose necessary information to keep us on track. Either things get derailed or someone changes the points & we then head in a different direction. Generally conversations have a flow to them, unless you’re a comedian, teacher or media outlet having a play on words…”I went to a restaurant that serves 'breakfast at any time'. So I ordered French toast during the Renaissance.” Steven Wright-comedian.

Stuff like that can be really funny but equally very damaging depending on the situation. Theologically speaking many refer to Peter’s mentioning of days as having something to do with creation but it is evidently clear that He is writing about the second coming & God’s patience & timing, that is the context regarding 2 Pet 3:8.

In Isaiah 56:1 it is prophesied that something is not that far off yet this was 700 years approx. before the suffering Servant would enter into human flesh & walk several dusty miles in our shoes or sandals before His triumphal entry of pursuit into Jerusalem. & not so funnily enough & it’s not breakfast but a supper that we eat in a similar way today as did the disciples in a God given context. While many say go this way or that way God gives us a train of thought & keeps us on track towards the glorious kingdom… lest our hearts & minds mutate or de-rail.

Big differences

"Gibbons are considered to be farther removed from humans on the evolutionary tree, yet they are more human-like in their bipedal gait than any other ape. This is surprising, since compared to chimps, their skeletal anatomy is even more different from humans. Elephants ‘bury’ their dead with vegetation and pay special attention to the bones and bodies of other long dead elephants—see Jumbo minds. Chimpanzees don’t bury their dead, and they leave once the corpse begins to rot. One elephant has even managed to speak eight human words in a South Korean zoo, and several Thai elephants have been taught to paint in full view of zoo enthusiasts. And elephants have accomplished these feats with a relative brain size that is about one-quarter that of chimpanzees."

I am not an animal, I am a human being & always have been.

Verses & Chapters in history

Flower power & the sexual revolution were in a way the forerunner or pioneer to the supposed enlightenment & consciousness that is present in this day & age that appears to be under the illusion that it is moving forward in a positive direction as it seeks to apply its worldview to the political realm.

Many rejected that worldly philosophy then & many will reject it today. History isn’t over yet no matter how many boasts are made. Kingdoms rise & kingdoms fall & that goes the same for democracies, democracies that gave themselves freely to the perverse use of the human body. History is full of accounts of people that didnt accept the political status quo & for very sound faith based reasons.

It was the hare that often ran ahead, convinced that the slow paced tortoise just couldn’t match the superior design of speed when it came to the genus Lepus. As far as the hare was concerned it was all wrapped up, game over & all that.

Isaiah 40:6-8
A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?”
“All people are like grass, and all human faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.

Takin it to the LORD (in prayer)

Christians get the blues, the lowdown blackish blues & there is no doubt about it. Throughout Scripture, BC or AD soulful mournful aches are carried deep down in the heart or replayed over in the mind.

At times we share in the sorrows of God as the world continues with its amplified wilful & sinful disobedience as it scorns the salvation sacrifice. At other times it is because of our own realisation that we have transgressed against God the Father & bought shame upon His holy name, then there are those times when we just don’t get it, painful things, difficult things press hard against us & we doubt Gods care or it seems a long way off…

Yes, Christians get the blues & at times God only knows & that is a good thing because He is the good shepherd & He will send what is best as He calls us to trust in the one who alone is trustworthy. Big or little, God has got it covered, don’t fret, trust.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there

Information functionality

The Lord Jesus Christ celebrates unity & diversity in His church yet it is to function as one unit as it points to the glory of God demonstrated in Christ. Baptised by the spirit & washed clean the human body functions with purpose & wisdom drinking from the stream of living water. 1 Cor 12:1-31. The body is not a freak accident, it is one of the many wonders of creation.

Although damaged by the curse of sin the human body is now a seed to be sown, after death another transformation takes place. 1 Cor 15:35-58. It is something God wants us to know. Somethings cant be found in our DNA or accomplished by technology.

Schools of Thought

The people of western culture are becoming very religious in an anti-Christian way. Enter nature documentaries. More & more the evolutionary narrative which has gaping holes, dubious fossils & built on untestable assumptions with miraculous outcomes is given a free pass. In the nature programs its evolution this, evolution that. No mention of any inconsistencies, controversies or failings...but there really are many, so much for critical thinking.

Christianity on the other hand, in the media gets no equal treatment what so ever. Everything is focused on the alleged inconsistencies, controversies & the failings seem to be greatly exaggerated, stuck on loop & shaded with dark sarcasm.

The robots of the 21st century are on the production line & it’s not just machines that are being programed to think artificially & in an extremely limited way.

Another Brick in the wall 2

Evolutionary Pty Limited Incorporated has its own spaghetti machine, mince grinder & monsters too, they are just reluctant to talk about it or promote it as much (anti-education).

School of Rock & Metallurgy

Societies then & now tend to treasure gold, it’s an up there commodity, top shelf & all that. With the music industry I think it’s platinum these days. We can make a lot of clever stuff & have been doing so since before the Bronze Age. But the Bronze Age in history can be in two different places, one is focused on the discovery of bronze the other has to do with its comparative value in relation to the strength of kingdoms & empires within history.

In the book of Daniel (600 BC- ish) Gold is the Babylonian Empire, Silver is the Medo-Persian, Bronze is the Greek & Iron is the Roman Empire. So next time someone talks about Bronze age goat herders get them to clarify it : ).

Dan 2:35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were all broken to pieces and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
