"Dwellers all in time and space"

This is it, the big countdown amidst the universal language of time. Months turn into weeks, weeks/days, days/hours, hours/minutes… minutes into seconds & milliseconds for the advocates of the technically inclined, then time is up. Game over, kaput, severed, no going back.

Ecclesiastes had it covered regarding what really matters in life & in death pre the Christ child. Time in one way is a virtual idea & in another, real, physical & inescapable no matter how much fight, flight, fling or dance you have in you.

In a world where we can be so often side tracked or derailed there is the stuff that really matters. It goes beyond food & water, chocolates, hamburgers & milkshakes, sushi bars, healthy fruit blends & even coffee or Pokémon (and what is so special about champagne anyway) with its strict adherance to process.

As an inspired book that pre dates Christ in the flesh & His coming, Eccl 12:11. Ecclesiastes cuts to the chase & wraps it up in 12 chapters. A book of days & nights & years with a countdown, countdown, countdown.

Whats Black & White & Red/Read All Over ?

I had to grow up & mature, jump through hoops, some of flaming fire with a bamboo stick of encouragement or an inked stamp of approval. The older I have gotten the more I have come to see that many adults are nothing but children. They are young at heart & young in the brain, juvenile & delinquent in nature.

There are many things that education cannot change, there are many things that correctional facilities cannot change. They talk about mapping the brain but the human heart deep in the soul is very much a mystery.

There are some things we can master, others not, we can’t even get close, try as we might. The Alpha & the Omega [Jesus] knows our circumstances, our desire to brake/break free. We think there is freedom in fame, money or friends, knowledge, culture, sex, drugs, drink or reclusiveness. But in truth there is only freedom in Christ, where one becomes many.

Underneath we are all the same & in need of great salvation, rough enough is not good enough in surgery or on the road or economics or science & maths. There are many things we cannot be casual about.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor/favour.” Luke 4:18-19.

Today was pretty hot, some of our family went up to a place called Barrington. As usual I took my camera along.I was hoping to do some underwater go pro but forgot to bring the casing along.

As far as photography goes, the highlight of the day was seeing the snake (which I think is a tiger snake) & seeing two crawchie's having a battle.

We did have a swim but the water was cool.It is a beautiful place with many hidden dangers.

Lord of the years, Lord through the years

God the watch or clock maker of precision… the heavenly lights testify to the purposefulness of creation. Wherever or whatever our latitude & longitude we cannot but help notice the magnitude, order & wonder of it all complimented by sublime beauty. Age after age, time after time, moment by moment we see it & hear its grand declaration of silent design made by God.

Yes I hear the objections & arguments that it was all an accident, blind chance, luck or whatever, a monstrous big bang like a firework as the ever changing data & non data stories shift about. But I hear something greater & wiser in the quiet whisper of God’s Word & world.

So the days go by and the years go by as we fade like shadows upon the transient earth. Our magnitude fades into memories that also fade with time as new days & years transform into a new existence & only in God, through Christ can I be truly happy & blessed. In Him we greatly rejoice. Gen 1:14-15. Psalm 118:1-29.John 1:16-18.

Miraculous God

Isaiah 8:19-22.
Isaiah 9:1-7.

Fortune & misfortune telling by way of spiritists & mediums is something God detests. It is dangerous, misleading & can sweep us away like a powerful tide.

If there is something we 'need' to know it can be found in, or deduced from Scripture.

God will not lead us astray, His truth shall set us free from the tyranny of decietfulness.

God's Wisdom & Love

As much as we think Christmas is over, it has only just begun. The angelic announcements messaged from heaven, wonderful & glorious as they are, are but a drop in an ocean. The baby Jesus is going to an event. Luke 2:21-40. The Christmas Polaroid becomes the Easter Passion & the Pentecostal moment. The disciples become apostles, the lost become found as the gospel era unfolds across the earth. The dove that brings peace, power & purity presents the Gospel of Grace with a love stronger than death.

Wide, wide as the ocean, high as the heaven above, deep, deep as the deepest see is my Saviour's love.

K-LOVE "How He Loves" by Crowder

[A lot of people seem to rage about the alleged injustice of circumcision but turn a blind eye to abortion. And anyway, if a mother can do what she wants with her body including a unique individual child inside it then surely God can do what He wants with His creation.]

Revealing God, Joyful God

So many years ago, so far removed and so far away from the modern backdrop of 2016... Many would like to think that we have progressed & in some ways we have as we go full circle with our retro stuff. To be sure we invent new technologies, some deadly & harmful just as much as helpful & at great cost. Chemicals, pollution, disinfectants & super-bugs, wars and threats of war in states of enmity. Swapping one consumable for the next as we talk all day about sustaining. Fly me to the moon or mars in the name of logic or maths or physics or a bucket list or whatever. Just another pyramid of sorts.

Meanwhile human nature remains the same as does God.

O sinner man, where ya gunna run to next, o sinner woman where ya gunna hide. Will you pull some strings like Herod & believe in your greatness or will you bow in humility & sing like Zechariah or Mary. Luke 1:46-56.

God knows our weaknesses, He knows our hearts & he came to bleed for them that they may be set free from sin, that inescapable sin.

God came down to us… became like us in every way that we may know the author of life. He has shown us what mercy is, he has shown us what compassion is, he has warned us & taught us. Spoken, written in ink or digitally displayed…we still need to see & hear that same good news today. Isaiah 42:1-17.

Don't fall for the myth of the modern with its many idols, only God can truly save.

An Illuminated Christmas

Skenoo, a Greek word, literally means “to pitch a tent”. It’s what God did, He came & pitched His tent among us. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14.

A simple & profound light show in the darkness, veiled incarnate Deity.

Christ, by highest heav'n adored:
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of the favored one.
Veil'd in flesh, the Godhead see;
Hail, th'incarnate Deity:
Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Taking on God

Mary, Joseph & the new born King must eventually escape to Egypt for a time. Herod hears about a new King & his imagination & fears get the better (or worse) of him. A deliberate genocide takes place not long after the birth of Jesus. Sinful pride & misery can rob us of great joy whether we are great or small… So many reasons why we should guard & examine our hearts in the light of God’s Word, not man made ethics. Matt 2:1-18.

No room in the inn & now life on the run (a bit like David)...What was Jehovah Jireh doing ? God sees the really big picture...we only see so much as he reminds us to live by faith & trust in His wisdom & grace.Psalm 23:1-6.

Close to Thy(Your) Heart

There will be a lot of focus on Mary,Joseph & Jesus this holiday season, & rightly so. It is easy to skim over the part that Zechariah & Elizabeth played in God's redemption for a world in the grip of undeniable sin. John 1:1-18.

An old married couple who had been praying for years & waiting on God for a child. God's timing is always best, even if we cannot fully fathom that, even if we may have to carry pain & heartache. Luke 1:5-25. God's Grace is sufficient for all that we need.

In God we find a comfort  & strength that goes way beyond positive thinking. Living by faith accepts that heartache & pain may need to be carried, unpleasant as it may seem. God is the good teacher with practical lessons so that we may grow closer to Him...

nearer still nearer.

Boy meets world

The man & male named Saul had come to realise that he was a chief if not the chief of sinners. 1 Tim 1:15-17. And yet he ends up with the greatest gift of all. As much as Santa is a jolly fat fellow, he too like so many religions are works based.

How can it be a free gift if you have to earn it by being a ‘good’ person? Once again the Saviour gives us a lesson in Grace & Salvation.Salvation cannot be bought or earned, it is freely given.

Yes family & health are special & as we age we may come to the realisation that possessions & presents & clothes do not make the man or woman for that matter, try as we might!

But have we come to the realisation that there is something greater than family & health in this world? Of course the answer is God. He is family & health in its greatest & purest form, Christ Jesus, friend of sinners & giver of lasting gifts. May we truly glory in Him, our only true & lasting hope that does not disappoint. Matt 11:1-19.

Christmas is about the boy story, not the toy story & even all those Santa's wont change that.

John 3:16-21.

Complex manoeuvres

Enter the Dragon Fly

I like drawing in powerpoint, using simple shapes plus the colour & gradient tools,
bevels also for a bit of 3D. Starting out with the lilypad I eventually settled for a stick/reed.

Once completed I save the slide as a TIFF file, which seems to retain the best quality then I crop it in Picassa & save as a JPEG.

I'm dreamin of a grey Christmas

Welcome to Neutralia, a not so neutral land. A 21st Century social experiment in Greyism. In order not to offend, no religion will be tolerated except the religion of naturalism. Great offence & even hysteria will be taken if you do not comply. A cultural & spiritual genocide before our eyes while atheism seeks to be all things to all people as it hi-jacks the public education system & borrows heavily from, & is indebted to Christianity.

Beware of blind guides & social rules that do not seek to conform to the Maker of Heaven & Earth. We are designed for a purpose, to live in family & community with God. Matt 15:12-20. Jesus knows the way through the wilderness.

Agreylia-Neutralia. Very Greyt.

Welcome to my parlour, said the spider to the fly...

When I think of Edward Hopper, I usually think artist, painter, landscape, cityscape. When I think pilot I usually think aeroplane. Aeroplanes do have a rudder & in many ways are still airships & face dangers as they journey.

As a kid I seem to remember being more confident about travelling by ship than plane. I figured I had better options in my risk assessment program, Bear Grylls, Swiss Family Robinson & all that stuff. I was not so big on the providence of God but very big on trusting myself. Probably a bit of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid rolled into one, the reality of the Bolivian Army was not on my radar & neither was God from what I could tell. I had heard many a sermon & knew what was right & and wrong but education is not salvation (we really must be born again. John 3:1-21.).

But things change, often suddenly & even with Jesus, life can be hard & life can be treacherous, a waterworld of visible and hidden dangers. The world is not your oyster, it is God's.

Father Who ?

Rembrandt, The angel stopping Abraham from sacrificing Isaac

Genesis 22:1-19.

God keeps His promises & the Saviour comes onto the scene.

God gives His own Son, a gift beyond compare.

It is Father Abraham & God the Father, not Father Christmas
who can help us to begin to understand a depth of giving. Heb 11:8-19.

Not all the workshops in Lapland can match it.

It is amazing & Divine

Setting the scene

There seems to be something decidedly English about this nativity scene. Maybe even an Antiques Roadshow sought of feel. From what Scripture tells us it can be established that it was the shepherds who went to witness the Hebrew child and lamb of God wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. The wise men from the east arrived later bearing gifts in honour of the Christ child which triggers a paranoid genocide similar to Israel’s allotted time in Egypt after Joseph. Exo 1:1-22.

Rev 12:13-17 gives us a decidedly different picture again. It is a historical meld where a not so romantic earth is caught up in a spiritual battle with much sadness & turmoil. Matt 2:18. Such is the wonder & awe of Christmas.

The significance of the first Christmas is just as consequential & significant for the peoples of today. The real Christmas has been trashed by the secular world. It lies scattered like a crumbling city of yesteryear…just like it has been attacked by an enraged dragon at war with God. Yet God builds & protects His church. 1 Pet 2:4-5 amidst the sadness & joy.

The economy of life

Ship your grain across the sea, after many days you may receive a return. Eccl 11:1.Nothing ventured, nothing gained, don’t put all your eggs in one basket seems to be the drift and yes many a shipwreck sits silently on the ocean floor beneath the surface of the waters. But a business venture is not enough in & of itself. James 4:13-17.

As in all things, what matters most is not loss or gain but whether God is central to our lives. People tend to measure their worth by achievement or comparing themselves to others but Scripture reminds us not to be fooled by such assumptions that really are boasts & empty ones at that.

To know God is to be rich beyond compare, and yet how often do we fail to see or appreciate that.

Music for a broken and wornout world

The primary, the original, the very first Christmas comes to us by the hand of God, the big census, the angelic announcement, the humble birth, the choirs of angels in the night sky and the lowly shepherds that witness the babe in the manger. God is a revealing God who pierces the darkness of sin (alienation & disobedience).

God takes on the form of human flesh & bone in the midst of Roman domination (Gloria in excelsis Deo). The angel did not say and you are to give him the name money, or science, or innovation, crowd pleaser, feel good or guru. The angel said you are to give him the name Jesus (Saviour). Luke 1:31.

Under the grip of recklessness & restlessness and the urge to be autonomous we cannot see our dire needs for what they are. In our desire to be clean we create superbugs. In our desire to be righteous we extol immorality and worship the nature of the beast & mock religion and the very person who alone can save and deliver…Messiah, only he can truly restore all things.

In the midst of the fragility of life and technology, Jesus & The Spirit proclaim witness to the love and mercy of God the Father and like a mother protects.Psalm 91:1-16. There is a Hallelujah that sadness & misery has no claim for joy has come into the world.

Good things take time

In the great wonder of life we have become accustomed to death, we treat it as an expected norm. In our mental equation & experience they are one and the same…inseparable. Whether you’re rich or poor, strong or weak, our physical bodies all experience the same end.

The great wonder of Christmas is the same as Easter, they too are one and the same. In death comes life. Christ came to share in our death sentence that we may have life. There was a price to pay for our transgression & in Him we are released.

There is a light that shines into the east & into the west & in Him we are released.

God is not dependant on "Big Culture"

1Cor 1:18-29.

Beautiful Saviour

Christmas (the birth of Christ) is a public demonstration and declaration by God regarding His mercy & judgement. The Christ child, who was given the name Jesus, would fulfil a destiny that the Scripture revealed thousands of years before. Gen 3:15. Luke 2:29-34.

Ultimately Jesus did not come to give us a nice time but to save us from the grip of the world & the hold that sin had or has over us. It was a hold that we would not relinquish without a fight, like snakes that constrict their intended prey and will not let go. There is a pride that lurks beneath our skin that resides in our hearts.

God has acted, God is at work, God is on schedule & he calls us to rest, labour & celebrate in that. Aided and powered by the Spirit we see the emptiness that mesmerises nations and families that pit themselves against the holy one. By God’s grace we are torn from the grip of the indwelling enemy that will not let us go. There is true freedom and it can only be found and won in Christ, one greater than Moses is here, one greater than Muhammad, One greater than the world…Messiah, in him we rejoice greatly.
